Sweet Nostalgia Candy Shop, a program of Parents in Training, Inc., operates out of a unique community-based training environment that combines workforce development, life-skills education, and individualized support for youth and young adults. This innovative program provides participants with valuable hands-on experience in a real-world business setting while helping them build the skills and confidence needed for long-term personal and professional success.

Hands-on Retail Experience

At the heart of the program is the busy and well-loved retail Sweet Nostalgia Candy Shop, where trainees are employed and paid while learning essential job skills.

  • Participants gain practical experience in customer service, cash handling, inventory management, merchandising, stocking, workplace communication, and teamwork.
  • By working directly with customers and managing daily retail operations, trainees develop a strong work ethic, professionalism, problem-solving abilities, and the confidence necessary to succeed in future employment opportunities.
